Awaken
The last 2 weeks i have been working on a large commission artwork for a private collection. The size is a 3m x 2m stretched canvas. Im quite happy how this came out. I have never used brushes on a scale as big as this before. The piece is mixed-media (created with acrylic, pastel and aerosol). A time-lapse of the piece was also taken for an upcoming art documentary. Ill speak more about that later.

Josh Robenstone - NY/LA Exhibition
Backwoods Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Josh Robenstone’s latest solo exhibition ‘LA/NY and other American Adventures’on Friday 20th August, 6-9pm.
NY/LA and other American Adventures’ is a retrospective journey and a portrait of contemporary American society, telling a story that is both fact and fiction. This abstract portrayal of the American way of life weaves together day to day experiences and encounters that span two decades.
LA’s gaping wide roads and obscurely narrow footpaths confirm the dominance of the motor vehicle. The city is shrouded in smog, but the bright sunshine makes you forget. In New York, a different pace and feeling. A city of people and interaction. Faces all day on the crowded footpaths, vibrant and engaged. The contrast between America’s two largest cities feeds a desire to look beneath the surface at the fringes of American society for further understanding.
Shot over numerous trips from 1990 – 2010, Josh Robenstone’s NY/LA and other American Adventures will be on display at Backwoods Gallery from Friday the 20th of August until September 1st 2010.

Now that the Everfresh Book is about to drop i can start showing photos of works that I have been doing in the last year. This 2 storey character was painted in Shibua Tokyo, last November. A big thank you goes out to Masa for hooking it up. It was fun.
Planetes
NEW WORKS BY ACORN
The word “planetes” is Greek for “wanderers,” just as planets wander across the sky.
The drawings presented in this show portray nomadic peoples roaming, gathering, and socializing in a seemingly endless forest where all possibilities are considered. Drawings from the forest series are an ongoing project, and they themselves are always expanding, evolving and changing with experience and time.
Originally from the west coast of North America, acorn has been working and living in Melbourne for more than two years. With a focus on traditional mediums he has spent most of his drawing time developing his craft with an ensemble of pens and inks. The characters and patterns in his work stem from no single culture or religion, but are part of an ongoing focus for creating something unique all together. An endless task.

Pizza Box Art
I used some pizza box lids to create some artwork while up on the goldcoast. I gave myself 45 mins to do each one. Quite happy how they turned out. Just poscas and a fineliner…
